Eighteen First Level Scrabble Players will converge in Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) this weekend for the Mega Retreat Scrabble, a main event that celebrates linguistic skills and strategic game.
The retirement will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, starting at 9:00 am
Speaking before the event, Tinde Saporu, president of the Organizing Committee, described retirement as an opportunity not only for competition but also for camaraderie and intellectual participation.
“This is more than a tournament: it is a celebration of language, learning and community,” he said.
He appreciated the sponsors; Mr. Femi Ayekun, Mr. Bright Uzu, Mr. Adetunji, Mr. Ojih David, Mr. Joe Okere and Chief Bade, whose support has made the meeting possible.
He added that the competition promises to be a memorable experience of mental stimulation and companionship, offering the players experienced and enthusiasts the opportunity to try their skills and deepen their appreciation for the game.
“Attendees can wait a full day of matches, strategy exchanges and community construction,” he said.
