“The National Sports Festival is more than a simple sporting event: it is a vital platform to promote cohesion, feed talents and build a stronger Nigeria. Encourage a healthy rivalry, mutual respect and bonds that transcend ethnic and regional divisions,” he said.
He also accused the athletes of Rivers State to compete with discipline, determination and sportiness, ensuring their due recognition and prizes for exceptional performance.
“Bring the hopes of our people and the pride of the state of the rivers. The government will honor every medal won, since your efforts and results do not go unnoticed.”
Mrs. Mobo, representing the National Sports Commission, explained that the Torcia della Unit, marked by President Bola Tinubu on March 26, 2025, symbolizes sport as a unifying force and a tool for the Empowerment of young people. The national torch tour will end in Abokuta, where the Festival will take place from 16 to 30 May 2025.
