2024 Paralympics: Ogunkunle secures semi-final spot in adaptive table tennis

Isau Ogunkunle continued his impressive run at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games after securing qualification to the semi-finals of the Men’s Para Table Tennis Class 4 Singles.

Ogunkunle defeated home favourite Maxime Thomas (three-time Paralympic bronze medallist), recovering from a set down to win 3-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6).

This is the second match in which Ogunkunle has emerged as a leader against a top player.

Before arriving in Paris, the furthest Ogunkunle had gone at the Paralympic Games was the quarter-finals (Tokyo 2021).

She will now play her first semi-final match at the Paralympic Games.

Meanwhile, Hannah Babalola took part in heat 1 of the women’s 100m T54, finishing sixth in the race.

Babalola did not start fast enough and had to recover the pace from the start, crossing the finish line in a time of 17.39 s (-0.3).

The race was won by American Tatyana McFadden with a new Paralympic record of 15.55 s.
