The recent recruitment portal for Nigeria paramilitary agencies was ruined by technical failures and safety problems on Monday 14 July 2025, frustrating thousands of candidates at national level.
The civil service board, correction, fire and immigration (CDCFIB) had previously postponed the launch of the portal from 26 June to 14 July, citing the need for program adjustments. However, when the portal – recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng – finally went live, it did not work correctly, displaying an inconsistent countdown timer instead of allowing access to demand modules.
At noon, many users reported that they were not able to access the portal, pushing widespread complaints on social media. Several candidates expressed anger and confusion while the timer continued to restore.
“One not only dey adds more hours every minute,” wrote a user, @Geniushawla. Another user, @Felixtraco, said: “It was 12:00, then he changed to 1:30, so he added another five hours. What is happening?”
The problems were not the only concern. A Twitter user, @gbengaguwa, marked the lack of encryption of the security of the portal, warning that the site was not safe and could exhibit the candidates for potential fraud. He invited the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to take urgent actions.
“This recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng is not a safe site … Unlike the main site of Cdcfib.gov.ng, which has adequate security. Please intervene before people fall victim to scammers”, published the user.
Others echoed to similar concerns both for technical issues and on the lack of official communication by the authorities.
The current recruitment unit covers four key agencies pursuant to the CDCFIB: Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service (FFS) and Nigeria Correctional Service (NCOS).
At the time of the press, the CDCFIB had not released any declaration that faced the problems that afflicted the portal, leaving many uncertain candidates on the street to follow.
