The Chinese embassy has finally approved the visas of officials for the Nigeria contingent for the 2025 world athletics relays in Bahamas.
According to reliable sources within the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (Afn), all passports are currently with the director of the Federation performance. The attention has shifted to coordinate a quick departure from Los Angeles, in a race against time to reach Nassau before the competition begins.
This last minute turning point offers a glimmer of hope for the Nigeria relay teams, which initially were forced to retire after visa delays threatened their possibilities to qualify for the 2025 world championships in Tokyo. With the Olympic qualification also linked to the performances of the world relays, this development could prove to be fundamental.
“All the hands are on the bridge now,” said a high AFN official. “It’s a logistic sprint, but the dream is still alive.”
