In their first three World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho, Zimbabwe and South Africa at the Godswil Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, the Nigerian Eagles managed three 1-1 draws.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have apologized to the Nigerian football community on social media and vowed to do everything in their power to earn a ticket to the World Cup after they recently lost 2-1 to the Republic from Benin on Sunday.

After four games, the Super Eagles have lost all four and have three points, enough for fifth place in Group C.

Diana Mary Nsan, special press assistant to the minister, announced that the minister will meet with the leaders of the NFF to discuss possible ways to revive Nigeria’s ambition to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The NFF has been informed of the planned notification as the ministry seeks to find answers to the super eagles dilemma, he said, adding that the minister is now working with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN National Trials) for the Paris 2024 Olympics in Benin. In the same way that the federal government could provide a special rescue committee to ensure the country’s classification for the World Cup.
