2027: ADC underestimated the criticism of Datti Baba-Ahmed, reaffirizing the commitment for the coalition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has underestimated a statement by the Vice President of the Labor Party in the 2023 election, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, about the capacity of the opposition coalition to seize the power of all Progressive Congress (APC).

The party described Baba-Ahmed’s comments as a personal view that did not represent the official position of the party.

The head of the prison had, during a direct interview in television politics Channels Today, accused the coalition of “deceiving the Nigerians.”

He argues that the coalition does not have the capacity to lift the country out of the backwardness.

He also expressed his willingness to compete with former LP President Candidate Peter Obi in 2027.

However, in a statement issued on Saturday by the Deputy Secretary of his national publicity, Jackie Wayas, ADC reiterated his commitment to the Opposition Coalition United ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The party stated that the coalition was a serious and broad -based alliance aimed at presenting credible alternatives to Nigeria for the administration of President Tinubu.

ADC highlighted that the block enjoyed the support of leading political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, former Senate President, David Mark, former Minister of Home Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amachi, and Obi himself.

The party emphasized that the leaders had gathered together after a broad consultation to prioritize national interest in partisan considerations, with the aim of giving “competent and loving leadership.”

ADC also given the previous OBI support for the coalition, noted that it had emphasized the importance of the unity of opposition to dismantle the structure of poverty and the rooted insecurity.

“The statement of the Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed is his personal opinion and does not reflect the position of ADC or coalition partner.

“Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed is a respected voice that always supports integrity and justice. Because the coalition is a collective effort that requires the strength and skills of all patriot, we sincerely hope he comes to contribute to this shared vision for a better Nigeria,” the statement added.
