Former vice -president Atiku Abubakar rejected the reports that suggest that he was asked to resign in favor of a southern presidential candidate before the general elections of 2027.
In a declaration issued on Tuesday, Atiku described the statement as “a mischievous manufacture” and “propaganda” presumably orchestrated by the all progressive Congress (APC). He claimed to have never been part of any meeting in which this request had been made or rejected.
“There was no meeting of the genre. Atiku Abubakar has never been present. The whole story is a harmful narrative manufacture prepared in the propaganda kitchens of the APC regime led by Tinubu”, reads the declaration.
The former vice -president stated that the report was a distraction designed by the APC to create a division within the opposition and undermine its growing political influence.
“This is nothing more than a diversion tactic – an attempt at a vacillating administration to sow discord within the opposition and derail the momentum gained by the successful presentation of the ADC,” he added.
Atiku also said that the Nigerians had already accepted the African democratic congress (ADC) as the most credible alternative platform that went to the 2027 elections.
He said that the APC in power is becoming increasingly uncomfortable due to growing popularity and national support for the ADC.
“The massive and growing support that the ADC continues to enjoy throughout the country is a clear signal that the Tinubu administration lives in time borrowed,” concluded the declaration.
