2027: EL-RUFAI led the political planning when Kaduna SDP joined ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has secured a significant political breakthrough in Northern Nigeria, following the defeat of the entire structure of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the State of Kaduna and the dozen movements of Members of the Progressive Congress (APC) in the Sokoto state into their folds.

Development, which the observer was described as “the rearrangement of the main politics,” appeared in the midst of an ongoing internal dispute in the ADC on the letter of resignation that was allegedly associated with its national factional chairman, Nafiu Bala.

At the coalition meeting held in Kaduna on Saturday, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai led the formal merger of the SDP state chapter into the ADC. The meeting, which was attended by political leaders in all party lines, was confirmed in a statement issued by the coalition publicity secretary, Darius Kurah.

Among those present were Ja’afar Mohammed Sani, Deputy Chairperson of ADC (northwest); Elder Patrick Wah, Chairman of the State ADC; Mallam Bashir Saidu, ADC leader in Kaduna; Member of the SDP State Work Committee; former commissioner; and representatives of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In his speech, El-Rufai praised development as a “unity of goals,” emphasizing that Kaduna could only achieve progressive governance if the leaders put aside personal and partisan interests.

“This is not only an alliance of party structure, but unity of goals,” he said. “Politics should not be about division but about collective services to our people. We must give credible alternative states, centered on people and truly progressive.”

Deputy Chairperson of ADC (northwest), Ja’afar Mohammed Sani, described the merger as “new dawn for Kaduna politics,” while the Elder of the Happy Elder convinced newcomers to the full integration into the “ADC Family.”

The next coalition decided to start registration of membership throughout the state and validation training to strengthen the presence of the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general election.
