2027: Former Lagos MPs from Igbo Descent urged Obi to bring down the President’s ambitions to Tinubu

A former member of the Lagos Parliament, Jude Idimogu, had urged the presidential candidate of the Labor Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, to cancel the ambition of the President and support the offer of the second term of office of the Tinubu Bola President in 2027.

Idimogu, who is also the deputy leader of Ndigbo at the Lagos State Chapter from the All Progressives Congress (APC), made a call during interaction with journalists on weekends.

The former member of the parliament said his advice became necessary because it would be very difficult for Obi to defeat Tinubu on any political platform in the next presidential election.

Idimogu said: “I strongly believe in this appeal to Obi, he must support Tinubu because the two leaders are from the south.”

He said that Obi’s ambition would only divide the southern voice again and weaken the opportunity for the region in 2027.

“This is a southern turn. Don’t let other southern candidates interfere with zoning and help the northern interests,” he said.

Idimogu compared the situation with the late eight -year -old president of the former President of Muhammadu Buhari, where the northern people united behind their candidates despite public dissatisfaction.

“Tinubu deserves full support. He cannot cancel Nigeria’s problem in two years. With unity, progress is possible,” he added.

Idimogu clarified that South United support for Tinubu will guarantee fair results and maintain the grip in the region.

While recognizing Obi’s rights to run for themselves, the APC chief urged IGBO leaders to prioritize regional interests and the second term of Tinubu, even when he requested the northern politician to also support Tinubu to complete the southern president for national equity and stability.

Idimogu, who was the only IGBO politician who served two term in the Lagos State Assembly Council, said “Both the Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) did not have a strong enough candidate to open Tinubu in 2027.”
