2027: Kwankwaso established conditions for the possibility of returning to APC

The former Governor of Kano State and the new national leader of the Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has indicated his readiness to return to the Congress of All Progressive (APC) if certain conditions are met.

Speaking at the NNPP stakeholder meeting in Kano on Friday, Kwankwaso said the potential for returns would require a clear recognition of his political movement and guarantees about his current density holding position.

Kankwaso, who played a role in the formation of APC, given what he described as a sacrifice made by himself and his supporters during the early years of the party. He regretted that regardless of their efforts, they were ruled out during the government of the former President of Muhammadu Buhari.

“We are one of the founders of APC. We face a big challenge, including the arrest of our members and personal attacks through various government institutions. However, when the party is in power, our contribution is not recognized or valued,” said Kwankwaso.

The NNPP leader emphasized that while he was open to rejoin with APC, such a step had to get clear benefits for his political colleagues, including Governor ABBA Kabir Yusuf, Legislator, and other party position holders.

“If we want to return, we must know the fate of the governor, senator, representatives, and other stakeholders in the government. Without clarity about this, there is no basis for discussion,” he added.

Kankwaso accused APC and PDP of failing to respect his political integrity in the past, insisting that future collaboration must be rooted in honesty and transparency.

“We are not in a hurry to leave NNPP. But if the original offer is made, and if we are sure of the fair treatment, we are ready to get involved,” he said.
