2027: Ombugadu contests Nasarawa gubernatorial election

Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, David Ombugadu, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ombugadu, who recently switched from PDP to APC, made the declaration in a town hall meeting with Eggon people in Nasarawa North Senatorial District in Akwanga on Friday.

The former member of Parliament for the Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency said he joined the APC to add value and support President Bola Tinubu’s development steps.

The former lawmaker, however, rubbished rumors that he was switching to the APC to seek the position of deputy governor in the 2027 elections.

He said: “I would like to use this opportunity to inform you that I will contest the Nasarawa North senatorial election to replace the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki in the National Assembly.

“By God’s grace, I will run for the Senate and then run for governor of the state in 2027.

“Whoever says that I joined APC to pursue the position of deputy governor is not right.”
