The 2023 presidential candidate from the Labor Party (LP), Peter Obi, has reiterated the sustainable party membership, eliminating the rumors that showed his purchase of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amidst the formation of the political coalition of opposition leaders.
Obi made a clarification on Friday during the official flag of the Labor Party campaign for the Election of the Governor of the State Anambra 8 November 2025. The event, which was held in the state, featured the party governor candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, and his partner, Lady Ifeoma Okaro.
Speaking to party supporters, Obi explained that while he and other opposition figures, including members of the elected LP parliament, were part of a broader coalition aimed at the 2027 general election, he remained strong in the labor party.
“I will start this conversation by clarifying some of the confusion that makes a round,” he said. “Let me explain categorically: I, together with members of the National Assembly from the Labor Party, is part of the coalition that has adopted the ADC platform for the 2027 election. However, to this day, I am still a member of the Labor Party.”

He continued, “If anyone asks you what party Peter Obi has today, tell them that I am in the labor party. If they ask about the coalition, tell them that it is a strategic alliance for 2027.”
Obi also took the opportunity to officially state his intention to fight for the presidency again in 2027, expressed trust in his ability.
“Everyone has the right to run for president. I will not stop anyone. But if anyone asks, tell them that I am in a race, and no one does it better than me,” he said.
In his speech to supporters, Dr. George Moghalu, a candidate for the Labor Party Governor for Anambra, promised to lead the country with a deep sense of responsibility, guided by faith and inclusiveness.
