2027: Wike’s former media aide says Fubara’s bid for second term ‘unstoppable’

APC Chairman Rivers accused Fubara of violating the peace agreement

Opunabo Inkor Tariah, former Special Adviser on Media to former Governor Nyesom Wike, has voiced his strong belief that Governor Siminalayi Fubara will get a second term if he chooses to run in 2027.

Responding to Wikeโ€™s latest comments, Opunabo asserted that Fubaraโ€™s โ€œmass-oriented projectsโ€ across all 23 local government areas of Rivers State have received widespread support from the people. He stated emphatically that no one, including Wike, has the authority to stop Fubaraโ€™s re-election campaign.

โ€œPower comes from God,โ€ Opunabo said. โ€œWike ruled for eight years, and Rotimi Amaechi also ruled for eight years. It is only natural that Fubara served two terms.โ€

Opunabo also challenged Wikeโ€™s assertion that Fubara had โ€œviolated the lawโ€ and failed to comply with the presidentโ€™s eight-point peace agreement. He called the agreement โ€œlopsidedโ€ and โ€œbiasedโ€, arguing that it favoured Wike over the country.

โ€œThe governor has shown gratitude to Wike for his role in his election, but that does not mean he should be dictated to,โ€ Opunabo said. โ€œFubara will not sacrifice the nationโ€™s finances to serve Wikeโ€™s interests.โ€

This statement comes amid rising tensions between Wike and Fubara, with Wike openly stating his refusal to support Fubara’s re-election bid.
