2028 Los Angeles: the IOC increases the teams participating in women’s football

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympics will present an increase in women’s football teams aged 12 to 16, while the male competition will be decided from 16 to a dozen teams, said the International Olympic Committee.

The decision was part of numerous changes to the program of Olympic events, including multiple contrasting events in various sports and all team sports with at least the same number of female and male teams.

The IOC said that the reason for the strong increase in women’s football teams was the rapid growth of the sport of the women’s team, especially in the United States, and that change in the format of the competition reflected that rapid growth.

“We wanted to do something to reflect that growth and equally with the United States who were the house of the highest level of popularity of women’s football,” he told a press conference by the Sports Director of the Cio Kit McConnell.

He said that the IOC discussed the problem with the organizers of Los Angeles and the government body of World Soccer first before moving on to changes.

The total number of players – men and women – would not change.

The United States, which will also host the male female world and 2031 cup, have won five Olympic gold medals in the female competition.

Male teams mainly use Under 23 players at the Olympic Games.

The Los Angeles games will have a total of 351 medal events in all sports, 22 more than the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Several sports, including archery, athletics, golf and gymnastics will add new mixed team events, with the total number of athletes unchanged to 10,500
