Police operations in Türkiye have arrested four Satir Lemanus magazine staff on the caricature of the Prophet Muhammated.
The Minister of Home Affairs of the country, Ali Yerlikaya announced Monday night on his Twitter account.
Jerlikaya shared recordings showing the arrest of graphic designers, illustrators, editorial leaders, and implementing director, calling the cartoon “despicable.”
The videos show the officers who arrested the suspects with cable ties and drove them from the place.
The Minister of Justice, Yılmaz Tunç, told X that Leman was being investigated to “openly demean the values of religion.”
Leman denied the accusation, stating that the cartoon in question did not describe the Prophet Muhammated.
The arrest followed a protest outside the Istanbul magazine office in the Beyoğlu District on Monday night, where the demonstrators reportedly singing “Sharia Life” and damaged doors and doors.
Responding to the riots, the authorities imposed a one -day ban at a public meeting in Beyoğlu on Tuesday.
The Contemporary Lawyer Association (ÇHD) condemns the arrest and describes it as “torture.”
CHD accused the government of using the incident as a pretext to silence differences of opinion.
