Corps members kidnapped by gunmen in Ifon community, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been released after paying a ransom of 5 million naira.
The affected NYSC members, three women and two men, were named Adewole Oluwaseun, Oluwadara Feranmi, Andrew Patience, Oribamise Taiwo and Ajayi Lekan.
Recall that the corps members were kidnapped on July 18 along Ifon-Owo highway, Ose State Council, while they were on their way from Enugu State where they attended the mandatory orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.
During the attack, the driver of the vehicle and a female passenger were fatally shot.
A brother of one of the victims, Lawal Happiness, said: “After completing the NYSC orientation programme, they reported to their PPA accordingly to go home to collect their stuff for proper recovery. They embarked on this journey on July 18, 2024 and left Enugu State at 9am.”
State police command spokesperson Funmi Odunlami confirmed that the victims had been released
