Walter Onnoghen, former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) appeared in court on Tuesday at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, challenging his suspension as CJN by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in 2019.
Onnoghen seeks to quash and set aside the CCT decision rendered against him on 18 April 2019, on various grounds.
In his appeal, Onnoghen argued that the allegations leveled against him did not constitute a violation of law and should not form the basis for his conviction and removal from office.
He also challenged the CCT’s jurisdiction and its refusal to be bound by orders made by the Federal High Court and the National Industrial Court ordering the court to stay the proceedings.
