Griezmann announced his retirement from international football

France and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has announced his retirement from international football.

The 33-year-old made 137 appearances for his country, scoring 44 goals, and helped them win the 2018 World Cup.

Ripples Nigeria recalls that Griezman converted a penalty in the World Cup final as France beat Croatia 4-2 in Moscow.

He also won the 2021 Nations League with France.

“With a heart full of memories I close this chapter of my life. Thank you for this incredible tricolor adventure and see you again,” he said in a video posted on social media.

“After 10 extraordinary years marked by challenges, successes and unforgettable moments, it is time for me to turn a new page and make way for a new generation.

“Wearing this jersey is an honor and a privilege.”

Griezmann’s announcement comes before the next international break in October when France play Israel and Belgium in the Nations League.
