2027: EX-LP Campaign, Osuntokun states the doubt of the opposition coalition against Tinubu will work

Former Director General of the Presidential Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Mr. Akin Osuntokun, on Tuesday, stated doubts that the coalition by several political leaders to fire the President of Bola Tinubu in 2027 will work.

Some opposition politicians led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Baru -this announced the coalition to challenge President Tinubu from the Congress of All Progressive (APC) in the next presidential election.

In a chat with a journalist in Abuja, Osuntokun said the alliance was not new in Nigeria and that he did not see the coalition working against the president.

He described Tinubu as an experienced politician and strategy who knows how to navigate murky political waters.

According to him, Tinubu has old strength and will use it for his profit if he decides to find a re -election in 2027.

He said: “If he (Tinubu) can win the election (against all obstacles) when he is not president, you can imagine now when he is the president.

“I will not bet on opposition opportunities. Tinubu seems to have many cards to play, and he is experienced and he is a master in terms of political strategy during the election.

“So, I will not bet on him. However, my advice for the opposition leaders who come together is to choose a presidential candidate from the South.

“If they choose candidates from the north, they will run against the obstacles of the principle of the North-South rotation presidency.”

He stressed that Tinubu has more capacity to mobilize elections than other individuals or groups.

“The opposition leaders have Tinubu as a formidable opponent, who will ensure that he comes out and win the election,” Osuntokun said.

He, however, said there was nothing wrong with forming a coalition to challenge the government at the center so long that the participants would be loyal and committed to the purpose of the alliance.

“So that any political party effectively challenges power at the center, it requires a joint position to form a large party, to have a better opportunity so that the goal is realized.

“So, so far, they (leaders and opposition parties) are true and true with the formation of the planned coalition,” he added.

He quoted APC’s victory against the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 as an example of a coalition that had worked in the country’s political history.

Osuntokun, however, warned that the coalition might hit stones if the participants failed to approve of facilities or methods to elect their presidential candidates.

He said the ambition of the president of certain figures in the coalition could affect their willingness to achieve compromise.

“So, this will be a test of endurance and potential coalition,” he concluded.
