An pupil of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan, Ayoluwa Okadiji, has accused the federal government of reviewing the curriculum of agricultural institutions in Nigeria.
Mr. Okediji gave the charge while delivering the lesson of the former students to the 61st founder of the institution held over the weekend in Ibadan.
According to him, the review is necessary to allow these institutions to face current challenges in the agricultural sector and to align with current realities.
Mr. Okediji in his lesson entitled; “Our inheritance: to fill the past and the future with the tutoring of young people towards innovation and self -sufficiency”, observed that it is essential that the college curriculum is continuously updated to ensure that they align with realities based on the sector.
“We must ensure that the curriculum is updated with recent development, innovation and things that take place in the agricultural sector,” he said.
Okediji added: “It is also an invitation to action for college himself to make sure that each of those graduates who have left this place are not people looking for work but are job creators”.
“They should really be creators of jobs and not looking for work. And this is the highlight of my presentation today. It is essential that the curriculum of college is continuously updated, ensuring that it is aligned with realities based on the sector”.
Mr. Okediji commissioned the former students, the actors of the sector and the institutional leaders to always support their alma subject, adding: “Each student must graduate not only with knowledge but with the mentality to build, innovate and create value”.
He underlined: “Prepare students with practical and practical skills and technical know-how relevant for today’s labor market. By authorizing graduates to think as entrepreneurs, solvers for value problems and creators”.
“To deal with this challenge, we must be deliberated. As ex-pupils, actors in the sector and institutional leaders, we must promote and institutionalize the following pillars within this college. From precision agriculture and from drones technology to blockchain traceability and intelligent cattle systems, our students must earn a practical exposure to digital tools that moderate the future of agriculture.
“Each student must graduate not only with knowledge, but with the mentality to build, innovate and create value. This includes business modeling, financial literacy and the resolution of large -scale problems. Training must go beyond primary production. Our students should understand the entire practice of agri -food value, practices of agricultural value”.
