The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the lawsuit filed by 36 state governments challenging the application of funds recovered by the federal government.
The Governor in the lawsuit accused that the federal government had illegally diverted the funds found between 2015 and 2021 into the Consolidated Revenue Account (CRA) and other accounts that were not recognized by the 1999 Constitution instead of federation accounts.
The plaintiff claims that the Federal government secures international and city confiscation, recovery and recovery of “stolen assets” in Ni, 836,906,543,658.73, around 167 properties, 450 cars, 300 trucks and cargo, and 20,000,000 oil stems worth $ 400.
They argue that CRA is an account in which the federal government part of the federation account, other federal revenues, and funds owned by certain state government is paid.
In its decision, the panel of seven members from the top court led by judge Chidiebere Uwa argues that the lawsuit was wrongly institutionalized by the plaintiff.
Judge Mohammed Idris, who read the decision, said the Nigerian Governor Forum mistakenly requested his jurisdiction.
He argued that the subject of the lawsuit was in the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.
