The Mutfwang government blames Nigeria’s elite for insecurity

The Governor of the State of Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, said that on Sunday Nigeria’s security challenges were created and problems were created and supported by the country’s elite.

The governor spoke at a meeting of stakeholders in JOS, the capital of the state.

He said the elite contributed to the deepening division and had to help reverse the trend.

The governor said: “My theory is that, more than anyone, the challenge of insecurity in Nigeria is a problem created by the elite.

“When an elite conspiracy to lead people in the wrong direction, we will continue to experience this eternal crisis.

“A lot of time, you will find that even when poisoning of the mind starts in society, when the elite takes leadership and say it must stop, they will overcome it adequately and it will stop.

“But when elite fans of Bara hatred, they are people who do their analysis, who begin to vomit the knowledge, and poison the minds of ordinary people -then it will be maintained.”

Mutfwang urged the Nigerian elite to promote the unity and coexistence of peace in the country.

He swore that his government would dismantle “obstacles made by faith and ethnicity,” to ensure development in the state of the highlands.

“When I stood before you today, I want to reiterate that I came to the government with a strong determination to restore lasting peace to the highlands.

“That is why I deliberately try to bridge the differences that we have built throughout all religions and ethnicities,” said the Governor.
