Mighty Media Plus Network Limited, publishers of the Qedng online newspaper, announced Ufot Udeme as president of the inaugural summit of Creative Powerhouse.
Ufot is the CEO of the SO & U group, one of the main African marketing communication groups.
The announcement was made in a declaration on Friday. The recent confirmation follows that the summit will take place on Tuesday 12 August 2025 at the Blu Hotel Radisson, Isaac John Street, Ikeja, Lagos.
“Financing as a catalyst for a flourishing creative economy”, the summit will bring together key figures in the creative space, including the leaders of the sector, investors, politicians and emerging talents – to discuss ways to increase the growth and sustainability of the sector.
Olumide Iyanda, CEO of Mighty Media Plus Network Limited and Converse of the summit, said that the results of Ufot’s career and the support for the creative economy make it an ideal choice.
“The summit will explore innovative financing solutions, promoting partnerships between creatives and investors and will provide tools for effective financial management. It will also be a space for the collaboration between creatives, the sector leaders and politicians to guide sustainable growth,” said Iyanda.
He recalled the long -standing Ufot relationship with Qedng, dating back to the launch of the platform in 2014. According to him, Ufot’s guidance and encouragement contributed to modeling the direction and identity of Qedng.
“The position of Mr. Ufot as President will underline his role as leader of thought and champion of the Nigerian creative industry. His leadership and intuitions will inspire participants to pursue innovation and excellence, strengthening the importance of strategic collaboration. They will also highlight his fundamental contributions to the progress of the creative sector in Nigeria”, he added.
Ufot began his career in 1984 at Insight Communications, where he went up to the position of Vice Creative Director (Art). In 1989, he joined Casers as creative director. Only six months later, he co-founded SO & U, who has since become one of the most respected advertising agencies in Nigeria.
He obtained a degree in industrial design from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and also completed programs at the Swedish Management Institute and the Lagos Business School.
Over the years, Ufot has held several leadership roles in the sector. He was president of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) and the President of the Council of Practitioners of Nigeria advertising (APCCON).
It also presides over the Council of the Political Innovation Center, is part of the Board of Directors of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (Nesg) and co-owned its political commission for tourism, hospitality, entertainment, creative industries and sports (Thecs).
Ufot undertakes to develop future leaders in the sector. Guide young professionals and lessons at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, where the consultative committee chairs.
He is a former president of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association and former president of the Board of Directors of Leap Africa, a non -profit organization focused on leadership and youth entrepreneurship. It is also part of the Board of Directors of the Nigeria special Olympics.
In 2014, the Federal Government of Nigeria honored him with the member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) for his contributions to the company sector.
Ufot Udeme is married to Dorothy Udeme Ufot, San, and are blessed with two children.
The Creative Powerhouse Summit is open to a vast audience, including artists, filmmakers, musicians, designers, advertisers, academics and financial institutions. It will be expected that it will be a historical event for collaboration, innovation and investments in the creative economy of Nigeria.
