A 35 -year -old housewife, Sarah Gideon, appeared in front of a court of Kaduna magistrates on Thursday for presumably stole a goat.

The accused, residing in the Narayi area of ​​Kaduna, was accused of a theft count.

The prosecutor, Isp Sunday Luka, told the Court that the complaint, Martins Bobai of Karji, Kaduna, reported the question on Tuesday at the Barnawa Police Station.

According to him, the defendant, who went to do an agricultural work near the house of the complainant, saw the goat tied outside the home and presumably steal it.

He said that the accused melted the goat and was dragging it when the neighbor of the complaint saw her fight with it and launched the alarm.

Luka also said that when the defendant was captured, he could not give a satisfactory explanation on why he melted the goat.

The prosecutor declared that the crime violated section 217 of the criminal code of the state of Kaduna, 2017.

“Section 217 establishes seven years of imprisonment for stealing if considered guilty,” he said.

The defendant, however, declared himself not guilty of the accusation.

The magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the deposit of the accused in the sum of N100,000 with a surety in a similar sum.

Emmanuel updated the matter until August 14th, for hearing.
