Team Dubois to keep the investigation after pre-preparing collection

Daniel Dubois’s team will hold an “internal investigation” after a video emerged that shows a “gathering” at home a few hours before his defeat in Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

Dubois, 27, did not arrive at the Wembley stadium until 20:15 BST – less than two hours before his ring walked.

He was stopped in the fifth round, losing his IBF title while Ukrainian Usyk, 38 years old, became twice undisputed world champion of the maximum weights.

The London coach, Don Charles, said he could not confirm the accuracy of the video, but admitted that he had happened, with what he believed to be more than 30 people present.

“I would like to change the word from the party to the meeting,” Charles said to the BBC Sport.

He added an internal review on Fight Night events, with the promoter Frank Warren and his son George ready to keep talks with the Dubois team.

“There is a suspended meeting,” said Charles. “We will have an internal investigation on what happened. The questions will be asked by Frank and George Warren.”

Charles explained that such an event had been held before Dubois’ shock victory over Anthony Joshua in September, when he eliminated the former champion on the ninth round.

“It’s not unusual,” he said. “This meeting is the same gathering that was used for the preparation of the AJ combat day.

“Much was made of the walk on Daniel’s rings for that struggle – how enthusiastic and confident he was – and people were praising him.”
