Rufai: Nff Debunks accuses of Taribo abandonment

The Nigeria Football Federation, Nff, denied the accusations of the former International Taribo West that he had not offered support for Peter Rufai’s burial, news reports.

West, speaking to Rufai’s burial, expressed disappointment for what he described as the abandonment of Nigerian football heroes after their death.

The former Arm Defender of Milan also remembered similar situations with late football icons such as Stephen Keshi, Rashidi Yekini and Thompson Oliha, stressing that the treatment of former players discouraged him from encouraging his children to serve the country through football.

A high NFF officer was mentioned by timely news for saying: “Taribo West is not aware of anything and has started to range.

“The NFF provided financial support to the Chukwu families and ruffai for burial rites.

“The Rufai family was very grateful because it was useful since the money approved by the Lagos state has not yet been released.”

News reports Prompt, executive member of the NFF, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, and director of communication, Ademola Olajire were present at the burial ceremony of Rufai at the Catholic Church of visits, Festac, Lagos on Friday. [Prompt News]
