Inec has not validated the list of ADC State Chairpersons, the party said the fake list

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) firmly rejected the claim that the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) had confirmed the list of party leaders in 36 Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Region.

In a statement issued on Sunday through his official X account, the Secretary of the ADC National Publicity, Bolaji Abdullahi, denied the report circulating widely entitled “Coalition Reform: Inec confirmed the National ADC Chairperson.” He described the publication as a “fake news” designed to sow confusion in the party and mislead the public.

“The attention of the National Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been withdrawn to a widely circulated statement entitled ‘Coalition Reform: Inec confirmed the National ADC Chairperson,’ which states that the Independent National Election Commission has released and validated the list of state party leaders for ADCs throughout the country,” Abdullahi said.

He continued: “The Independent National Election Commission, for the best of our knowledge and verification, does not issue such confirmation, not officially or unofficially. Inec only recognizes what is handed over by the party through the appropriate channel after the legal process. To this day, there is no comprehensive list submitted or confirmed by Inec.”

Abdullahi emphasized that the appointment and ratification of the leaders of the state permanent was an internal process regulated by the Constitution and Party Protocol – not by media reports or not verified lists.

He also warned members and the community to remain aware of wrong information, especially when the party dealing with internal disputes and leadership restructuring. “We urged our members and stakeholders to ignore the claims made -made like that. They are only tools in their hands who are trying to confuse the party,” he said.

The rejection came in the midst of an ongoing internal dispute in the ADC, especially after the recognition of the new Inec about former Senate President David Mark as the National Party Chairperson – steps that had triggered controversy and legal disputes.

Further situation increased with a report on court orders prohibiting Inec from acknowledging a faction led by a sign, party claims have also been fired as part of the coordinated disinformation campaign. ADC describes claims such as “Additional Fake News from Desperate Political Workers.”

Meanwhile, both the Mark and the National Party Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, were reported to have been summoned by the court for disagreement surrounding the party’s leadership transition.

Apart from turbulence, Abdullahi reiterated the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy, the rule of law, and the legal process in completing its affairs.
