Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) state governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lawal secured the party ticket after the APC gubernatorial primaries held in the state where delegates from the 14 local government areas of the state cast their votes.
Announcing the results, APC Election Committee Chairman, Dr. Bello Maigari, said Governor Dauda polled 301,893 votes, setting the stage for the next elections in 2027.
The President states that Lawal obtained the majority of valid votes.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Lawal thanked the delegates, party leaders and members for their support and trust.
He said the result reflects the unity and cohesion within the APC in Zamfara and pledged to work with all stakeholders to ensure the party’s victory.
“I am deeply honored by this mandate. This is not only a victory for me, but for every member of our great party who believes in the progress and stability of Zamfara State.
“We will consolidate the progress we have made in security, education, healthcare and economic empowerment,” Lawal said.
The governor also called on other aspirants and members of the party to put aside their differences and present a united front before the main elections, stressing that only a united APC could deliver the state to the people.
The state chairman of APC, Hon. Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, said the emergence of Lawal as the flag bearer strengthens the party’s position in the state.
