Lights have returned to some key parts of Abuja after the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, restored electricity on Saturday evening following a fault at the Apo substation of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
The affected areas included State House, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Lugbe, Garki and other districts which were plunged into darkness earlier in the day.
AEDC said the restoration occurred after TCN successfully repaired the 100 MVA TR3 transformer at the Apo transmission substation.
“Abuja Electricity Distribution PLC is pleased to inform our valued customers that power supply has now been restored to the affected power supplies,” the company said in an advisory.
TCN had previously confirmed that engineers were working on the fault before the AEDC announced the full restoration of the affected power supplies.
