2027 polls: Former Ogun governor Osoba shows support for Tinubu

Former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has appealed to Nigerians to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election to enable him complete the good works he initiated to move Nigeria forward.

Speaking at a centenary conference organized for Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, who turned 100 in May in Lagos on Friday, Osoba said: “It was a joy to see the centurion, healthy and vigorous, witness President Tinubu become president.”

The event was attended by eminent Nigerians, including Ondo State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa; the deputy governor of Lagos state, Obafemi Hamzat; Minister of Home Affairs, Bunmi Tunji Ojo; former governors of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo, Kayode Fayemi, among others.

He noted that Tinubu was ready to implement Awolowo’s good legacy, which included an egalitarian society.

He noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was an offshoot of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which he described as a “progressive political party that produced Tinubu as governor of Lagos State”.

He said Fasoranti, who was Awolowo’s disciple, ensured that the vision Awolowo had for a better Nigeria became reality when he supported Tinubu’s candidature in 2023.

“Fasoranti made sure the vision became reality. Tinubu is the son of Awolowo. Tinubu is the first progressive president,” he said.

She married Tinubu because she shares the Afenifere philosophy of a better Nigeria and that she would implement every policy for the betterment, progress and development of the country.

Osoba also commended the President for coming forward for state governors with huge allocations that made it easier for them to pay workers’ salaries.

He charged state governors to be ready to implement significant projects that will improve the lives of citizens as more money is now made available to them.

“Governors should work so that the masses feel the impact, so that people can feel the good work that Tinubu is doing. Thank God Fasoranti is alive to see the good work that Awolowo’s disciple is doing. We firmly believe in Afenifere,” Osoba said.
