2027: Atiku needs to focus elsewhere considering his age, health -Kwankwaso

The vice presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, has urged the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to focus on other things and forget about running for president.

He asked Atiku to withdraw from the 2027 presidential election considering his age and health

Kwankwaso made the call while receiving members of the Fulani Farmers Association, who visited him at his residence in Abuja.

He said Atiku should focus on his traditional responsibilities.

He also cited Atiku’s age and health as reasons for filing the appeal, and urged supporters of the ADC candidate to convince him to withdraw from the presidential bid.

The former governor of Kano State stated, “Go to Wazirin’s house in Adamawa and tell him in Fulani that he needs to focus on the traditional title of Wazirin, considering his age and health.

“If Allah gives us success, we will take good care of it, especially since you all come from Adamawa. An apology must be conveyed to him.”

The call comes following efforts to unite all opposition candidates under one umbrella to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

In April, Atiku said the 2027 presidential election could be his last resort, given his age and the risks involved.

He has run for president several times, including in 2007, 2011, 2019, and 2023, and has lost every time.

Atiku remains a strong supporter of restructuring, economic liberalization and private sector-led growth.
