I am now a minister of God: Actress Jumoke Odetola

Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has announced that she is entering a new chapter in her life dedicated to Christian ministry, declaring that she is now a minister and preacher of the gospel.

The Yoruba actress recently attracted attention on social media after she shared a series of posts about her new spiritual journey, prompting friends, family and colleagues to contact her with concerns.

Odetola then addressed the reactions, assuring those who had contacted her that there was no reason to be alarmed and that the changes taking place in her life were centered on her faith.

“I truly appreciate the many calls, messages and concerns from my friends, family and colleagues,” he said. “I feel seen, cared for and loved.”

“There’s nothing wrong with me”

The actress acknowledged that something significant was happening in her life, but stressed that this should not be interpreted as an indication that she was experiencing a problem.

“Yes, there is something going on in my life, but there is nothing wrong with me,” Odetola said.

He described the development as the start of a new spiritual phase, explaining that he was “entering a new season with God.”

Odetola also declared that she had become a minister of God and was taking on a new role as a preacher of the gospel.

“Now I am a minister of God,” he said, signaling a deeper public commitment to his Christian faith.

Following a similar path

Odetola’s announcement comes as other Nigerian entertainment personalities have also taken on more visible roles in Christian ministry.

Actress Tonto Dikeh is another prime example. In 2026, Dikeh announced the establishment of the New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle, an interdenominational Christian brotherhood in Abuja focused on prayer, revival, spiritual formation and evangelism.

While Dikeh has established a named Christian community, Odetola’s announcement so far has focused on her personal calling and her declaration that she is now a minister and preacher of the Gospel.
