Super Eagles of Nigeria drew 1-1 against Bafana Bafana South Africa in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday night.
Nigeria now has five draws from eight matches in qualifiers, losing one and only won two, keeping them at 11 points in Group C.
Eagles, led by coach Eric Chelle, needed a direct victory against the host to maintain their hopes much stronger to reach the final in North America.
But the 25th goal itself by Captain William Troost-Ekong forced Nigeria to walk before Calvin Bassey saved one point with a header-meth-fir-First.

It was an extraordinary game by Bassey who started the escape that ended on the internet. But he headed for the ball into his left hand to the net, but there was no var for the game.
With the result, Eagles jumped over Benin Republic to sit second in the group with a better goal difference, but the six points behind the leaders and favorite of South Africa.
Like standing, Hugo Broos South Africa only needs one point from the possibility of six to order automatic tickets to the 2026 World Cup.
Nigeria’s hope is currently located on another qualifying route as the second four teams in second place in African qualifiers will also fight for places against opponents from other continents.
Super Eagles will return to matchday 9 and 10 in October where they will face Lesotho and Benin Republic.
