Flying Eagles chief coach Aliyu Zubairu has made the duration of the final victory won of his team over Senegal in the Sub-20 Cup of Africa 2025.
The seven times champions defeated the 3-1 headlines for penalties to ensure a place in the semifinals.
Zubairu’s team also won a position in the FIFA World Cup U-20 2025 after victory.
“Each possible scenario was prepared, including penalties. The boys attached to the plan and executed it when it mattered. That is what the champions do,” said the gaffer after the game.
“This is a great victory for Nigeria, but we are not yet celebrating. We came here with a goal: qualify for the World Cup and challenge the title. A box is marked, we now continue to press.”
Zubairu also praised his players for adapting to the challenge of playing in the tournament.
“They have matured in each game, tactically, mentally, emotionally. That is the true path of development, and I am proud of each of them,” he added.
The victory establishes the Flying Eagles against the winner of the shock of Monday night between South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Ismail on Thursday.
