A new era in road infrastructure does not take place with equipment …

[Press Release] In a significant push to the development efforts of Nigeria’s infrastructure, the honorable Minister of State for the works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq.

The inauguration ceremony of 1 August 2025 brought together the main parties concerned and the data distinct from public and private sectors. The presences included the President, the Committee of the Senate of Fermo, Senator Sahabi Yau; The President, Committee of the Chamber of Firm, Engr. Rmi Oseni; The Japanese ambassador to Nigeria, his excellence, Suzuki Hideo; The CEO of Fermo, ENGR. Emeka Agbasi; Members of the Board of Directors of Fermo, former CEO, president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Eng. Margret Oguntala, Fnsse and coordinator of the program of the initiative of the compressed presidential natural gas initiative (PCNGI), Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi.

Evalued at ₦ 3.6 billion (three billion, six hundred thousand naira), the equipment donated should transform the ability to keep and rehabilitate the vast road network of Nigeria. Goronyo stressed that the donation introduces in a new road maintenance era, allowing engineers and technicians to offer faster and more sustainable results. “This generous contribution from Japan brings us closer to our vision of a more fluid journey, safer and more reliable throughout the country. The roads are the lifeblood of our economy and daily life, and this equipment is a turning point in our ability to use and preserve them,” he added.

The honorable minister also observed that Nigeria’s vast road network remains vital for trade, agriculture, health care and national integration, even if it continues to face significant maintenance challenges.

Goronyo also praised the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for making infrastructures an absolute priority and a key factor of economic growth pursuant to his renewed agenda of hope, an administration that recognizes infrastructures as a growth activator. “Let’s imagine a future in which travel to Nigeria are seamless, safe and reliable. This generous donation brings us closer to making that vision a reality,” he also said.

On behalf of the President and the Nigerian people, Goronyo has extended a profound gratitude to the government of Japan for his tangible support and the unshakable commitment for the development of Nigeria.

The honorable minister urged the leadership of Fermo and his technical team to ensure that the equipment is used optimal, underlining: “This equipment is a precious resource and its effective deployment will reflect our commitment to improve the quality of life for all Nigerians”.

He concluded by observing that the commissioning of the equipment means more than a ceremonial delivery, as it marks the beginning of a new chapter in the maintenance of the roads that aligns with the widest vision of prosperity led by infrastructure.

Previously, the CEO of Fermo had praised the president, the honorable ministers of the works, the permanent secretary and the Japanese government for their unshakable supporter towards the management of road resources in Nigeria. He assured that the equipment will be distributed appropriately, well maintained and used at maximum effect.

“These machines will undoubtedly strengthen our ability, increase productivity and guarantee more fluid travel experiences for the Nigerians. We are committed to using them effectively in line with our mandate” ENGR. Emeka Agbasi said.
