The Delta State Police Command has revealed how a 17-year-old boy allegedly hacked WhatsApp accounts of celebrities and sold explicit adult content to classmates.

This was revealed in a viral video shared by comedian Otaghware Onodjayeke, popularly known as I Go Save, during a security awareness program where he spoke to the Police Officer of Ugborikoko Division, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Temi Agbede-Zuokumor.

As seen in the video, the DPO explained that the case came to light after a routine check of a student’s phone, which had initially raised suspicions.

Agbede-Zuokumor revealed that the student’s mother had initially claimed that the phone belonged to her sister, but further inspection revealed otherwise.

“The woman seemed very modest, so I asked her if she was from Deeper Life. She said no. Then I asked her why her son brought a phone to school and she said it belonged to her sister,” he said.

The DPO said the development triggered his suspicions, prompting officers to examine the contents of the phone.

“Something told me to check the phone. When we did, we found that everything on the device belonged to the boy,” he said.

He added that the phone contained more than 80 foreign numbers, including Australian contacts, along with numerous explicit materials.

“We saw several foreign numbers, over 80 Australian lines, and the phone was full of pornographic content,” he said.

The police officer also revealed that the suspect allegedly sold explicit material to his classmates, who called him “boss.”

“We also saw chats with his classmates asking him if he had explicit content to sell. At school they called him ‘boss’,” she added.

According to her, the investigations also revealed that the teenager had hacked the WhatsApp accounts of important people and used them to collect money.

“We discovered that he had access to the WhatsApp accounts of some celebrities, which he used to ask money from unsuspecting victims,” he said.

Speaking during the session, comedian I Go Save recounted a similar experience, describing how he was once contacted by a suspected scammer posing as Forbes’ richest man in the world, Elon Musk.

“That’s how someone posing as Elon Musk messaged me, telling me he was stuck and needed a charging card,” he said.

“I was surprised and asked him which network he used. The person later sent an Opay account,” he added.

Police have warned parents and school authorities to be more vigilant, underlining growing concern about cybercrime among young people. [TVC]
