ABIA The government fired six civil servants for the salary of the Government of Abia’s state, which had approved the dismissal of six senior staff from the Ministry of Justice after their indictment in the salary bearing scheme found during the internal audit and administrative investigation.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the chairman, the Abia State Civil Service Commission, Eno Jerry Eze, the state government said that the affected staff had been found to have been involved in the manipulation of the payroll system, which resulted in revenue for excess salary during a sustainable period.
According to that statement, the civil servant who was fired was: Mr. Dickson Uche Eze, a Main Accountant (SGL 12), Mrs. Esther Emeruwa, Senior Accountant (SGL 10), Ny. Ijeoma Jonathan, Head of Executive (Accountant – SGL 14), Mrs. Treasure Isinguzo, Assistant Chief Executive (Account. (Account – SGL 12) and Mrs. Hannah Ezinne Eze – Senior Executive Officer (General Task – SGL 09).
The government explained that disciplinary actions followed detailed investigations by the Abia State Civil Service Commission, which independently interrogated the officers, reviewed relevant financial records, and confirmed that they consciously benefited from irregular salary payments to harm the country.
The statement, which said that officers who were charged and dismissed would be handed over to appropriate law enforcement officers for prosecution, urged all civil servants and other stakeholders to maintain integrity and report allegations of irregularities.
