The governor of the state of Ogun, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his delight for the constant transformation of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), praising the organizers of the League for aligning their calendar with international standards.
Governor Abiodun made the comments in Abeokuta while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), directed by its president, Ibrahim Gusau, and the president of the NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.

The officials visited to congratulate the governor after the official presentation of the 2024/25 NPFL to Stars Trophy, this season’s champions.
Speaking outside the visit, the governor praised the decision of the NPFL to synchronize his season with global leagues, many of which conclude for May or early June.
“While the champions, our own rowing stars from the state of Ogun, were crowned on Sunday, there is only one more game to conclude the season, which means that the NPFL will be completed in May, as well as most European leagues. This is commendable,” he said.
Abiodun, who attended the presentation of the trophy in Ikenne, also applauded the NPFL Board for carrying out a soft and unrelated season.
“It is for the credit of the NPFL Board, directed by my brother, Elegbeleye, who today had this beautiful celebration. All interested parties agree that the rowing stars are decent champions,” said the governor.
Present at the reception were several members of the NFF Board, including Ganiyu, Aisha Falode and Silas agara.
