A’Court upholds N1.5BN Final Final Final from former NIRSAL BOS to the Nigerian government

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division on Friday, June 20, 2025 Upheld the January 22, 2025 Ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, Prested Over by Justice in Ekwo for the final forfeiture of N1,582,000,000 (One Billion, Five Hundred And Eighty-Two Million) to the Federal Government, Through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Against Steve Olusegun Ogidan.

He is a national coordination consultant from the Nigerian incentive -based risk sharing system for agricultural loans (NIRSAL) and is investigated because of violations of trust, bribery, and money laundering with Aliyu Abbati Abdulhameed, who was then the former Director of Nirsal Management.

The investigation by the commission against the duo led the commission to experience a natural suspicion that Ogidan gained its numbers through unauthorized activities, especially bribery from the consultants he should have monitored and monitored, which resulted in leaving the work that was truly canceled.

EFCC was on February 5, 2024 to ensure a temporary confiscation order in that amount.

Not satisfied with the final confiscation order, Ogidan and Abdulhameed submitted a separate appeal, challenged orders and seeking determination by the Appeal Court, whether the trial court appropriately applied part 17 of acts of face expenses by causing the money to be scorched to the federal government. The appeal was heard on April 10, 2025 and the assessment was reserved until Friday, June 20, 2025.

In the unanimous vote of the appeal, by the judge of the appeal court, judge Okon Abang in the main decision stated that the appeal did not have services and that the court could not be blamed in providing temporary confiscation to the federal government, especially as an applicant in voluntary requests.
