ACSS flags off project monitoring team  – Blueprint Newspapers Limited


As part of measures to strengthen the FCT area councils to perform optimally,

the Area Council Service Secretariat (ACSS), FCT Abuja, Tuesday, flagged off project assessment monitoring team in Kwali.

Speaking with Blueprint during the flag – off in Kwali, the Director Planning, Research and Strategies, Sarah David Areo, who represented the Acting Secretary ACSS, Mrs. Omolola Olanipekun, said the event signalled the commencement of the statutory duty of monitoring projects, programmes and activities in area councils.

She said the monitoring of the area councils was one of the statutory responsibilities of the ACSS. 

She stated that the Secretariat had set up six teams (One team for each area council) which is a joint monitoring of Area Councils Project, Programmes and Activities.

“They will start today with an interactive session with all the Heads of Departments and one or more assistants,” she said.

She further stated that, by the beginning of next year, the Secretariat may launch a new approach to monitoring activities in the area councils and when the time is right, it will come knocking for the implementation.

The Secretariat therefore implored the staff of Kwali area council to lead in the drive towards the realisation of this purpose across the councils by showing an outstanding performance throughout the period of the monitoring.

The chairman, Kwali area council, Hon. Danladi Chiya, represented by his vice, Mohammed Yahaya, expressed happiness for the monitoring team and thanked them for choosing Kwali as their starting point for the job.
