Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has defended herself after Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, warned her against cooking on public roads in the state.
Wahab made the warning while responding to a video shared by the actress which showed her preparing food and distributing it to poor people in Lagos.

He further revealed that Martins had previously been warned about a similar incident last year, and added that he risked arrest and prosecution if he continued to engage in such activities in public spaces.
“I hope you are well. My attention has been drawn to your recent activities of cooking and distributing food on the streets of Lagos,” Wahab wrote.

“While we recognize and appreciate the charitable and compassionate spirit behind what you are trying to do, carrying out such activities on public roads, footpaths or medians is not permitted under the environmental and public order regulations in Lagos.
“Cooking or trading on public infrastructure raises safety, sanitation and traffic issues.”
He advised the actress to channel her charity work through approved locations and proper channels to avoid violating existing laws.
Responding to criticism in a post on X on Saturday, Martins denied cooking on the road. The actress clarified that the food was prepared in front of the king’s palace in Ajah, Lagos, and not on a public road.
He also rejected claims that his activities were an environmental nuisance, and insisted that his intentions were purely philanthropic.
