Actress Tonto Dikeh is facing legal threats over a viral ‘liberation’ video involving schoolgirls

Nollywood actress and politician Tonto Dikeh is facing possible legal action following a viral video allegedly showing her performing a stripping session on a schoolgirl, an incident that has drawn criticism from Nigerian human rights lawyers.

In a statement issued on Friday, human rights lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi condemned the act, describing it as a violation of the dignity and basic rights of children.

The controversy began after a video circulated on social media showing the actress performing what was said to be a spiritual liberation ritual involving minors.

According to Obasi, the footage shows the schoolgirl lying on the bare ground while being pressed against a hard, rocky surface during the ritual.

The lawyer criticized the act as a “primitive, cruel and reckless display,” arguing that treating children in such a manner was degrading and potentially violent.

Obasi also expressed concern that a public figure who identifies as a born-again Christian could allegedly subject minors to such conditions under the guise of spiritual liberation.

He warned that the incident could have legal consequences, and stressed that children’s rights and welfare must be protected regardless of religion or personal beliefs.

“This scene is even more horrifying to witness in the 21st century,” Obasi said.

“It is sad that in today’s Nigeria, a Nollywood actress who claims to be a converted Christian can subject an innocent child to inappropriate, abusive and degrading treatment.”

“Clearly, what was inflicted on the innocent child was abuse, degrading treatment and an attack on the child’s honor and good name,” said Obasi.
