ADC gathered 97 lawyers to defend temporary leadership in court

The platform adopted from the national opposition coalition group, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has collected at least 97 lawyers to defend the constitution of the temporary leadership that was just formed in court.

Three ADC members on Monday challenged the appointment of former Senate Senate President, David Mark and former Governor of State Osun, Rauf Aregbesola as Provisional National Chair and Party National Secretary, respectively at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Plaintiffs- Adeyemi Emmanuel, Ayodeji Victor Tolu, and Haruna Ismaila in the lawsuit, argued that the transfer of party leadership to members of the coalition group violated the existing court decision.

ADC, Independent National Election Commission (Inec), Direct Party Chairperson, Ralph Nwosu, Mark, Aregbesola and former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, who is a temporary national publicity secretary, registered as respondent in the lawsuit

ADC confirmed a collection of lawyers in a statement issued on Tuesday by its media unit.

The party accused all of the progressive Congress (APC) to sponsor the lawsuit.

The statement reads: “ADC accused APC of deceiving Nigerians by using the names of non-ADC members to file a lawsuit against the party and temporary leadership.

“The party accused that the names used by APC to submit their lawsuit were not in the physical or digital registration of ADC in Kogi or Nasarawa State.

“It hit the despair that a chosen party responsible for life no less than 200 million people can be involved in shopping for the names of its citizens in pursuing Machiavellian politics.

“Meanwhile, the National Legal Support Group for the ADC has expressed its readiness to represent ADCs in the court of the issues raised by the party and temporary officers.

“Making this revelation in Abuja yesterday, group leader, lawyer Mohammed Sheriff, said that no less than 97 lawyers had indicated their readiness to defend the party.”
