When Nigeria prepared for the 2027 general election, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) had threw his weight behind a developing call to the legal mandate that would force the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to send the results of electronic elections.
In a statement to Vanguard on Monday, the Secretary of the National Publicity of the Party, Bolaji Abdullahi, said that the ADC firmly supported the law that would make an electronic transmission of compulsory results, describing it as important for transparency, credibility, and restoring voter confidence in the election process.
“If building a legal framework for electronic transmission results will force Inec to act properly and deepen transparency in our election process, then ADC will support it strongly,” Abdullahi said.
“For us, whatever guarantees that the voice of the people really calculates and protects the sanctity and integrity of our election is not only desirable; that is an absolute need,” he added.

According to Abdullahi, the credibility of elections cannot be negotiated if Nigerian democracy wants to survive and develop. He emphasized that Inec must be held accountable and that the voice of the people must be captured accurately and reflected in the final calculation.
The position of ADC is in harmony with increased pressure from other political stakeholders, including the Opposition of the Democratic People (PDP), who previously urged the National Assembly to endorse the law that requires Inec to send results in real time from the ballot unit to its central server.
The call for election reforms has increased in recent months, with critics referring to the alleged manipulation of results and logistics failures during the previous election. Encouragement for a stronger legal framework on electronic transmission is seen as a key step towards rebuilding public trust in the Nigerian democratic process.
