The Governor of the State of Osun, Adeleke Ademola, has promised to restore full operations on the regional government council of the state, accusing political opponents of trying to stop progress under his government.
Speaking on Thursday at a reception held in respect of him by the Democratic People’s Party (PDP) at the Party Secretariat in Osogbo, the Governor accused that the dispens were restless by the achievement of his government and tried to obstruct further development.
Although he did not mention the name of the individual, a prolonged crisis for the leadership of the local government in the state had been dominated by the struggle between the powerful PDP and the opposition of all Progressive Congress (APC).
The legal allocation for the council has been suspended by the Federal Government led by APC after a dispute. The council’s activities have also been paralyzed since February 17, when the leadership deadlock erupted.

APC stated that the appeal court in Akure, in a decision submitted on February 10, 2025, returned the official elected on October 1522, the election of the council, which was previously fired by the Federal High Court in Osogbo in November 2022.
Speaking to party members, Adeleke equated the challenges faced by his government with Bible “Pharaoh”, insisting that Osun should not be dragged back to what he described as an era of “bad government.”
“We will get our local government back and run,” he said. “They were surprised by the delivery and transformation of our osun. They wanted to hold back the country and stop our development, but Osun people with us, and we will not return to the past.”
The governor also urged PDP members to mobilize the population to actively participate in sustainable voter registration training, emphasizing that voter involvement will be very important ahead of the 2026 Governor Election.
