Afe Babalola recommends Pan-African academic collaboration to improve the global position of the continent

Elder and Luminary Legal Statewriters, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), have called for deeper academic collaboration among African institutions, which states that such partnerships are very important for Africa to secure places that should be on the global stage.

Babalola made this known on Friday during an interview with the Nigerian news agency (NAN) at the Ado-Ekiti, shortly after being hosting the delegation of 16 people from the Durban University of Technology (DUT), South Africa. The delegation visited Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (Abuad), to give him news about the Honorary Doctoral degree to be given to him by Dut.

Reflecting visits, Babalola emphasizes the power of transformative education and the need for African institutions to work collectively to achieve common goals.

“I still believe that we can reach the proper place in the world through education,” he said. “That is why we work with Dut – to combine efforts, share resources, and move forward together.”

He added with the saying, “If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together. We must go together to overtake other countries in everything.”

“I am happy that gray is ranked in the world in one or two fields,” he said. “With a consistent collaboration and excellence, I believe that in a few years, we will lead the world and become the number one university.”

Babalola also praised the Faculty of Literature for their commitment to form students to become responsible and capable future leaders.

“I thank my teachers who have worked tirelessly in pursuing our goals. I am very proud that our students are being maintained to become a future leader,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Governor of Biodun Oyewbanji from the state of Ekiti praised the great contribution of Babalola to education and development in the state. Represented by the Head of Service, Dr. Folane Olomojobi, the governor reiterated the country’s willingness to collaborate with gray, especially in research and innovation.

“Public services are ready to partner with the Abuad Research Department to encourage sustainable development and innovation throughout the state and outside,” Oyewbanji said.
