Afenifere said Nigerian democracy was still developing, urged vigilance

When Nigeria marked another democratic day on June 12, the Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, had described the country’s democratic journey as ongoing ongoing jobs, calling for citizens and civil society to remain committed to deepening democratic governance.

In a statement issued by its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Afenifere reflected the importance of that day, which commemorates the recovery of civil government after years of military dictatorship.

“This is a milestone because it represents the day of democracy and civil governance is reclaimed and restored in Nigeria, after a prolonged and unstable military government,” Fasoranti said.

He praised Nigerian democratic experience that was not interrupted since 1999 for the sacrifice carried out by activists, civil society organizations, and democratic movements, especially the National Democratic Coalition (Nadeco), where Afeniphere is an important part.

“Without hesitation, a sustainable and uninterrupted democratic government since 1999 is a product of the sacrifice and commitment of our heroes and heroes in the civil society groups, and their good -in -law colleagues who, together with Afeniphere, unite into the National Democratic Coalition, Nadeco, to become the vangard constitution of the progressive troops who sew it.

Fasoranti noted that the struggle for Nigeria who is just and fair must be continuous, even when the country celebrates democratic benefits.

“We are happy to note that progressive forces remain vigilant, committed and active. And we believe that progressive spirit will continue to maintain and maintain democratic ideals in Nigeria,” he said.

However, Afenifere warns self -satisfaction, emphasizing that democracy must be maintained through constant involvement and vigilance.

“While we celebrate a sustainable democratic government in our country on this good occasion, we are also reminded that democratic practices continue to work. We, therefore, call for all his companions, especially civil society groups, to collaborate with other progressive forces to deepen democratic practices and processes in Nigeria, for the benefit of this generation and this generation has not been born.

This group also used the opportunity to highlight the potential for unifying democracy in various countries such as Nigeria, emphasizing collective aspirations for justice and prosperity.

“Thus, June 12 is a reminder that even though we come from a different background with a diverse perspective, our shared goal of Nigeria who is prosperous in which equality, justice, social welfare and economic welfare play a role is the driving force behind our determination to see the progress of this country,” Fasoranti concluded.

When the country commemorates the inheritance of June 12 and its relevance to democratic evolution, Afenifere’s message functions as a celebration and call to act for Nigerians to remain involved in the democratic process.
