Afit shines for the premiums for merits of admission to Jamb

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, has again demonstrated its increasing profile as one of the main tertiary institutions of Nigeria, gaining maximum votes at the 5th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NAPTAP-M).

This was contained in a press declaration issued by the NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame Wednesday.

According to the declaration, the award ceremony, organized by the Municipality of admission and registration (Jamb), was held on 8 July 2025 at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Center in Abuja.

At the event, AFIT secured the first position among the Nigerian universities for its maximum level of compliance with the guidelines for admission to Jamb for the exercise of admission 2024/2025, validating its commitment for the process of admission based on merit and based on standard.

This marks a progress from the admission cycle of 2023/2024, where the institution ranked second.
“In the overall ranking combined for the years of admission to 2023/2024 and 2024/2025, the 4th place was ensured on 172 universities, following Ahmadu Bello University, the University of Ilorin and Nilo University,” he said.

He observed that the last milestone affirms the unwavering commitment for transparency, the admissions based on merit and excellence in the delivery of education, in line with national guidelines and the best global practices.

Reacting to development, the head of the air personnel (CAS), the aerial marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, praised the leadership and staff of the institute for supporting the momentum in academic and administrative excellence.
He described recognition as “a validation of the deliberate and strategic investments of the education of the Nigerian Air Force as a key factor of air power and national development”.

AFIT’s success story is not accidental. It is the product of an approach deliberated to training, which aligns with the philosophy of the CAS command which gives priority to the development of capacity, strategic partnerships and academic excellence.

According to the Cas “AFIT’s adhesion to the admissions based on merit reflects the values of discipline, integrity and professionalism that the Nigerian aeronautics tries to instill in all its institutions”.
“The performance of AFIT at the Naptap-M Awards demonstrate our determination to build a air force ready for the future anchored to the knowledge, innovation and competence. We will continue to support AFIT in its mission to produce highly qualified graduates, not only for the NAF, but for Nigeria in general,” added Air Marshal Abubakar.

Renowned as the higher aerospace institution and focused on the defense of Nigeria, AFIT continues to evolve as a worldwide center for innovation, the development of the character and the education led by research. Its growing national imprint and academic credibility have positioned it as one of the most rapid federal universities in the country. With this remarkable recognition by Jamb, AFIT is ready to play an even more important role in modeling the future workforce of Nigeria through quality education, technological innovation and strategic relevance.
