African Championship: National Flag team of Nigeria, offended in Egypt

The Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA) has revealed the clothing for the competition at the National Sports Commission, NSC, as it starts starting for the inaugural continental games of Football IFAF Africa Flag in Egypt in turnover for the 20-21 of June 2025.

In a short but significant ceremony, the president of Nafa, Babajide Akeduu, revealed the shirts that the team will use in Egypt to the general manager of the NSC, Hon Bukola Olopade Tuesday, while the DG loaded the team to proudly make the country and return with the flying colors.

“On this trip to Egypt, I wish you guys well and I am more encouraged by the fact that you guys are very confident that our women’s team will win gold. I am also very fascinated by the fact that you are bringing U13 to this tournament. It is in line with the renewed vision of the hope of the Commission to also start building for the future”.

“I also have to thank you and your team for the type of aggressive and glamorous advertisement that you are creating around the football of the flag in Nigeria and I think there is a realistic possibility that a synergy is created that will glue Nafa and put together to have a robust championship around the country. If in the end it can happen and you guys will come together, this sport will take the Nigeria for storm, I have no doubts”.

The president and founder of Nafa, Babajide Akerdolu explained the meaning of the tournament and the readiness of the Nigerian team to make the story in Egypt.

“Since the Sport flag has become an Olympic sport, there has been a strong push to have continental games so that Africa is better represented on the global scene. All African countries then gathered with the interface with the global body and now we have our first African games”.

“We came here to reveal our shirt to the DG and to tell him that we are putting three teams on the field for the competition: the main team that has been on the pitch for two months now, a women’s team and an U13 team”.

He added that “we are quite optimistic and we believe that with the support and activities of many championships in Nigeria such as the Abuja Flag Football League, The Showtime, the Flow Football League Community and the Ogun Flag Football League, we have many players who can give us a formidable national team”.

Nigeria is billed to compete alongside traditional sports countries such as Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa, Senegal, Ghana Uganda and guests in Egypt, when the tournament takes place this weekend.
